Sara Groves
Christian Recording Artist

Sara Groves, contemporary Christian artist, is well known for her thought-provoking lyrics. Her albums reflect her life and her Christian worldview. Raised in a Christian family, her journey took her from teaching to performing her own songs in concerts throughout the United States. She has released eight albums and has been nominated for three Dove awards. Sara was named one of the best Christian music artists of 2005. The album, Add to the Beauty, was named album of the year in 2005 by CCM Magazine. Sara and her husband-manager have three small children who are a part of the journey and "realness" of Sara's lyrical expression.

Sara's music continues to reflect her spiritual and personal growth. Her albums The Other Side of Something and Add to the Beauty were written, says Sara, "in sort of a time of reckoning. It was a dark time ... very much my fighting and resolution." Her most recent release is Tell me What You Know. This album explores what she has learned in the past 2 years after being exposed to the ravaged gulf of Louisiana and the genocide of Rwanda.

Her 2008 tour not only promoted her new album but also benefitted several Christian ministries. In September and October, she was a part of a team of artists performing for Art's Music Justice Tour to benefit International Justice Mission and Food for the Hungry.

Sara has come to the realization that there is a huge difference between "charity and justice." She has especially been drawn to the injustice in slave trading. Through her concerts and her influence, she is challenging her audiences to awareness and action on behalf of victims trapped in sex-slave trafficking. It has given her a fresh sense of purpose and excitement.

A statement from Sara on her website says: "There is a beauty to the good use of a life, and to the acknowledgement that everything you have and do has a Kingdom purpose."
